the process
I had the opportunity to work with Jeremy Martin on the manuscript of his debut novel Foreign to You in 2017. What began as a beautiful and tragic story developed into a fully realized and captivating fantasy featuring deep characters and a plot that evokes emotion at every page turn.
Martin consulted with janna mae co. about copyediting his novel in an effort to get it in the best shape for presenting to a publisher. As a huge book nerd, I was beyond excited, and quickly dove into the 90,000 word manuscript with red pen in hand.
Over the next few months I made line edits for spelling, grammar, and word choice as well as overall suggestions for sentence structure and flow of the copy throughout the story. Martin and I met to discuss the edits as well as develop the story further and create the most consistent manuscript to present to a publisher.
After the copyediting was complete, Martin took steps to present the manuscript to publishing houses, and it was accepted and picked up by NineStar Press. After the full publishing process, Foreign to You was released in February of 2019 and is now available for purchase!
“janna mae co. is affordable, professional, and talented. I hired Janna Mae to copy edit my novel's manuscript, and with her skills she brought out the best of my work. Highly recommend.”

on a personal note
I’m so proud of Jeremy—watching him go through this process has been enlightening and exciting as a writer myself, and to see someone whose talent I believe so highly in have so much success brings me pure joy. To know that I had the opportunity to be a part of his process makes it even better. I love working with authors because I get them and I admire them so highly, and working with Jeremy was no exception.
